Roberto Paz is a highly accomplished percussionist, educator, and composer based in Phoenix, Arizona. With a passion for music that began in his early years, Roberto has established himself as a prominent figure in the music industry, known for his exceptional talent and relentless dedication.
Roberto's musical journey started with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps and the Concord Blue Devils, where he achieved notable success, including three Drum Corps International World Championships. His time with the Blue Devils also included being a part of the undefeated Fred Sanford High Percussion title, showcasing his outstanding skill and commitment.
Throughout his career, Roberto has collaborated with various groups such as the Arizona Cardinals Drumline, Boom Percussion Entertainment, Blue Devils Entertainment, and the Phoenix Suns Entertainment. His performances have graced prestigious stages at NBA events, conferences, trade shows, and major NFL events, including Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLIX.
In addition to his performing career, Roberto is deeply involved in music education. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University, where he was actively engaged in a wide range of ensembles and studied under esteemed mentors like Dr. J.B. Smith, Dr. Mark Sunkett, Simone Mancuso, Dom Moio, and Dr. Bill Sallak.
Roberto's dedication to music education extends to his role as Director of Marching Percussion for the Sun Devil Marching Band, a position he has held since 2007. He continues to inspire and mentor young musicians, showcasing his passion for nurturing talent and promoting musical excellence.
Professionally affiliated with organizations such as the Arizona Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, Percussive Arts Society, and the Arizona Band Orchestra Directors Association, Roberto is recognized as a respected clinician and arranger in the music community.
